ANXIETY/DEPRESSION/PHOBIAS
Professor Edelmann has for many years undertaken research relating to fears, phobias and the anxiety disorders. He is a patron of Anxiety UK (http://www.anxietyuk.org.uk/). Typical assessments in relation to medico-legal work include the development of specific fears (e.g. travel anxiety) subsequent to trauma and, with regard to criminal cases, alleged needle/injection phobias following failure to provide a blood sample. In relation to the latter he has given evidence in Magistrates and Crown Courts.
